The pipe with the oldest of souls.
As a geologist, I couldn’t convince myself not to purchase one of @Nosy Goats pipes with a soapstone insert. By god, I want to smoke out of a stone. And then the pipe arrived. This pipe is well-crafted, smokes delightfully, aesthetically pleasing, and folks, That Soapstone Bowl Insert!!

This soapstone was deposited as an ophiolite as part of the seafloor over 570 million years ago. It then got squeezed and metamorphosed into soapstone during the Taconic orogeny (mountain building episode) ~460-500 million years ago. I’m smoking tobacco out of an ancient seafloor AND heart of a mountain range that is half a billion years old. By comparison Turkish Meerschaum is a meer 50 million years old.
